If there has been an illegal squatting, once the property is empty we can make a property secure, arranging to have locks changed and checking that all windows and doors are safe.

We can also take care of ongoing garden maintenance so that a place appears looked after, avoiding unwanted attention from vandals, fly tippers or other squatters.

In some cases, we may encounter hazardous waste, like certain pesticides. We can arrange for these to be disposed of, adhering to UK legislation.

All our staff sign confidentiality agreements, forbidding them from sharing any details of the house clearance with anyone except us and you.

We are licensed by the Department of the Environment as waste carriers, and insured against all third party risks.

In all property clearances, we stringently follow all environmental standards and laws, including WEE, the European Directive on the disposal of electronic waste, and we always keep in mind our environmental impact, keeping it to a minimum wherever we can.

There are three ways that we dispose of the furniture and household items we clear from properties:

• • Where possible, we donate as many items as we can to charities and non-profit organisations, as reusing items is more helpful to others and more environmentally friendly than recycling as there is no processing involved.
  • For items that can’t be reused, we work with local authorities to process all recyclable materials.
  • As small a percentage as possible of the items we clear from properties is responsibly disposed of, using local authority refuse facilities.

Before we arrive to clear your property, it is ideal if you could have first removed any belongings that you would like to keep.

If this is not possible, please label them clearly and separate them, if you can, from the items you would like us to remove.

Letting us know you have done this in advance is really helpful, to make sure we are able to carry out your exact instructions, and please also tell us a few days before we come if you would like us to take any items to another location, rather than disposing of them, so that we can make appropriate arrangements.

We also suggest that you notify your neighbours or co-tenants that we will be coming, assuring them that we will be as considerate and as minimally disruptive as we can be.
